About Us:
That first time that we saw our Enchanted Ridge it was muddy; not showing it's best side, however, we fell in love regardless. We returned to our residence in one of Houston, Texas' suburban communities and began planning and executing our move to our Enchanted Ridge. We started our life on The Ridge in a tent, so excited and open to the adventure that we were beginning together.
Once here we began constructing the metal quonset hut that was to become our home and workshop. Perhaps, I should call it a class room because there have been so many lessons for us to learn since we have come to our Enchanted Ridge.
One of the earliest and most dramatic events I remember for many reasons. One was that we were coming up on our 1st wedding anniversary and another was...that we were standing on our building setting bolts in an arch for our metal quonset hut when our nearst neighbor, who lived a bit more than a mile down the rock strewn ridge road, came racing into our driveway yelling for us to come with him RIGHT NOW! Without question we came down and found ourselves flying as best his Wilys Jeep could go across the ridge to his house. He was driving with such concentration that we hung on in silence not wanting not wanting to interrupt him. We definitely felt this might be a safety issue.
In a matter of minutes we were in his living room starring at his TV watching the World Trade Tower hit by planes -it was 9/11.
Even on our Enchanted Ridge, 65 miles from a town, without phone or electricity - we heard and saw the horror of 9/11 within minutes of its happening.
As so many did, we contacted family, touching basewith our most important connections AND knew that distance can be rendered meaningless in a heartbeat.
This is a small part of how our journey began. It was a journey conceived of because we saw our suburban life become a treadmill of working debt and taxes that would continue to secalete until our inevitable death. Not a pretty picture. Not an inspiring reality. For the price of a lot of hard work, a willingness to risk our future on our abilities and our creativity, a sense of adventure and lots of blind faith in our selves, each other and the universe we have found a home on our Enchanted Ridge.
We want to welcome you as avalued traveler on our Enchanted path and look forward to sharing more of the wonderful and interesting happenings that have graced our time on our Enchanged Ridge.
We use stone both locally found and purchased. We only use Sterling Silver findings. Our wood treasures and wood jewelry are created primarily from the rare Alligator Juniper trees that are part of what makes our Ridge so special. All of our items are hand shaped and hand finished. Yes, we use tools but not tools of mass-production or automation. Each piece, in fact each part of each piece is hand crafted. The Sterling Silver findings, flat pieces and wire are purchased from fine jewelry suppliers. The process of individually slicing the chosen stone or using a specially selected piece of wood to visualize, shape and finish each piece makes duplication highly unlikely. Or said another way, both Mother Nature and the process enable us to create individual and unique treasures. Craig and i hope that these treasures will bring you as much pleasure as creating them has brought us.
